Chef Shack at Buckeye Lake

Chef Shack at Buckeye Lake is one of our favorite places to eat on the lake. Unlike many other places you can’t cruise up dockside to eat, but they more than make up for it with their flavor flair. Kevin and Jennifer Gorham have once again created an iconic Buckeye Lake eatery. It certainly lives up to their motto “Simple food, skillfully prepared”.
Variety of Specials
Another cool thing I like about the Chef Shack is the rotating of menu items. One day it may be crabs cakes, which are outstanding, then on another day it may be shrimp cocktail or Coney dogs. Kathy and I have eaten there quite a few times now and have some real favorites. The “Shack Burger” is excellent, as are the Kraut dogs. The crab cakes , New England style, are some of the best I’ve ever had with lots of crab meat. I don’t think there’s a bad thing on the menu.
Pair it with a good brew
Chef Shack shares a building with the Buckeye Lake Brewery. Nothing makes food better than pairing it with a good beer and Buckeye lake Brewery puts out some mighty fine varieties of yeasty goodness. Probably my favorite is their Shovelhead Double IPA. I also really like that they serve beer flights and half pints allowing you to sample many of their brews.
